Expectations are beginning to build for the New England Patriots entering the 2025 season.
Even after a 4-13 campaign, the Patriots are inspiring hope to improve immensely under head coach Mike Vrabel. The organization added some key players through the draft and free agency to help quarterback Drake Maye ascend in his second season.
Count Jeremy Fowler among the Patriots believers. The NFL insider made a bold proclamation about New England’s 2025 prospects on ESPN’s “Get Up.”
“I am not only buying Patriots stock, it would not surprise me if they won the AFC East,” Fowler declared.
The Buffalo Bills remain the team to beat for their sixth straight division title, but Fowler believes the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are entering a “transition” year. He thinks Maye and a revamped roster can end Buffalo’s streak.
“They’ve loaded up on the offensive line. They’ve loaded up — defensive line’s looking real good,” Fowler said. “There’s just something about Drake Maye, I do feel he’s going to make a massive jump. Buffalo is still the favorite, but I’m gonna put it right there. I think they have a chance to win it.”
Fowler gave Pats fans reason for optimism earlier this summer when reporting that people within the organization feel Maye is poised to take a second-year leap. The 22-year-old will have assistance from All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs and No. 4 overall pick Will Campbell.
A favorable schedule has also transformed New England into a wide-awake sleeper. Jumping from last place to first still won’t be easy, especially since the Patriots must outclass a Bills squad that’s notched 61 victories over the last five regular seasons.
Fans can get an early glimpse of the new-look Patriots when they host the Washington Commanders in their first preseason game on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
