The start of the 2026 NFL season is less than 100 days away. Most NFL teams have already wrapped up their mandatory minicamps, with the rest to follow them on June 18th. NFL teams now have just about a month to add the final pieces to their rosters before training camp kicks off in late July.
ESPN’s Aaron Schatz made a handful of recommendations in a recent article, pairing every team in the league with a roster move they should make in the near future.
Schatz believes that every team in the NFC North could use another pass rusher before the 2026 season.
“You’re going to notice a trend in the NFC North, where all four teams could probably use another veteran pass rusher,” Schatz wrote.
It should be no surprise then that Schatz recommended that the Bears, Packers, and Vikings all bringin veteran talent on the edge. He recommended that Chicago add veteran Joey Bosa to bring some consistency to the team’s pass rush unit.
“The Bears got 4.5 sacks out of Austin Booker in 10 games last season, but Dayo Odeyingbo was disappointing with just a single sack in eight games after signing a big contract to come over from Indianapolis,” Schatz added.
Meanwhile, he suggested that Green Bay add Jadeveon Clowney as an early-season replacement for Micah Parsons while he recovers from ACL surgery.
Finally, Schatz had the Vikings adding veteran Haason Reddick to their pass rush unit. He could be a great fit next to Dallas Turner and Andrew Van Ginkel, effectively playing the role Jonathan Greenard did before being traded.
Defense should be more important than ever in the NFC North. Especially with all four teams boasting high-powered offenses and plenty of elite skill position players.
It will be fascinating to see if any of these teams add to their defense before training camp.
