ESPN analyst has PERFECT rant for those sleeping on the Lions
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

It feels strange thinking that some of the national media could forget about a team that won 15 games in 2024, while securing the NFC’s top seed. However, that is what can happen when your season ends like the Detroit Lions’ ended last year, losing in convincing fashion at home to an up-and-coming Washington Commanders team. Injuries and other context aside, that is what the majority of fans and media outside of Detroit and the Lions’ fan base will remember.

Fortunately for the Lions, 2025 is a new season, and many around the organization have echoed the same sentiment about there being one goal this year—to finish the job and bring a Lombardi trophy to the great state of Michigan. Count ESPN’s Ryan Clark as one national media member who hasn’t forgotten how talented this Lions team is.

“Well, listen—how about the Detroit Lions? I’m wondering why we are sleeping on them,” said Clark to open up his segment where he named the Lions the most intriguing team this season. “Like we took a melatonin, rubbed ourselves in lavender, and drank chamomile tea. The Detroit Lions are a team that is poised to be right back where they were last year, which is the number one overall seed in the NFC.”

“And Dan Campbell, who I watched at practice be precise, be intense, and have a sense of urgency of a team that feels like they’ve underachieved two years in a row,” Clark continued.

The former player would finish his portion of the show with an emphatic, “THEY BACK!”

New coordinators or not—it’s nice to see that at least someone has some sense and remembers who the best team in the NFC North is.

And now onto the rest of notes:

  • Lions defensive tackle Brodric Martin has been one of the highest-graded pass rushers so far this preseason according to PFF.

  • Another day of me asking the NFL to allow players to wear mirrored visors in games again.

  • Everyone remain calm. We are nearly there.

  • In case you missed it, the main gate at Ford Field got a facelift ahead of the regular season.
