Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown sat out Week 8 with a hamstring injury, but his situation continues to generate attention as the team has its Week 9 bye.
The NFL trade deadline is drawing closer, and Brown remains at the center of ongoing speculation about his future with the organization.
His frustration over his role and target share in the offense has been evident for several weeks.
Yet, multiple reports have said the Eagles have no plans to trade Brown.
Former NFL coach Eric Mangini sees the situation differently and believes the receiver’s best option may involve a departure from Philadelphia.
“I would imagine he’s asked for a trade. Because you can’t go this public, this many times, over this long a period of time and have not gone to see the owner or the GM,” Mangini said. “He’s expressed over and over what he wants to do, and he’s not gonna really be able to do that in this structure. So, his only option is to go somewhere else.”

Brown’s public displays of frustration have raised questions about whether Philadelphia might consider trading him for draft capital or a lesser player who better fits its offensive identity and culture.
The Eagles continue to build their attack around Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts in the run game before involving their passing options.
Before his hamstring injury, Brown had his most productive game of the season with four catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns, including a decisive late-game score against the Minnesota Vikings.
Inconsistency has been a recurring issue this season.
Brown has two games with fewer than two receptions and less than 10 yards, which is unusual for a receiver of his caliber.
The Eagles won the Super Bowl last season, but that does not guarantee Brown’s long-term compatibility with the scheme or his quarterback.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills or Indianapolis Colts could provide a better fit if a trade does materialize.
