Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are officially done.

The team has announced plans to part ways with the veteran quarterback following two disappointing campaigns, and it appears his off-field behavior is what’s landed him in the doghouse.

According to the New York Post, Rodgers pleaded with the team to keep him during a meeting with higher-ups, in which he was informed that his services were no longer needed.

The QB had flown back to New York to meet with members of the Jets’ top brass, including head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey, where he was told that they would be moving on. The Post claims he “urged” the team to give him another year or two during conversations throughout the week, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Other reports claim the Jets decided to move on from A-Rod because he failed to attend all offseason activities and refused to stop appearing regularly on ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’

The Post did not reveal whether he promised to conform in order to have the Jets keep him, but they’re letting him go either way, despite having no succession plan at QB.

While the team has opted to sever ties with Rodgers, they still have a big decision to make. The QB has a cap hit of close to $50 million, so they would either have to make him a post-June 1 cut and spread the cap hit over several years or release him in the offseason.
