It’s unclear what kind of say New England Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf will have now that Mike Vrabel’s regime is taking over.

Wolf did accompany Vrabel and Vrabel’s front-office confidants in Ryan Cowden and John Streicher to Mobile, Ala., for the Senior Bowl this week.

Wolf made his first comments since the Patriots hired Mike Vrabel earlier this month at the Senior Bowl in a team-produced video and he had an interesting remark about New England’s new head coach.

“Someone in my position, it’s good for me to kind of put a face with the name, put a face with the tape,” Wolf said. “Try to see what these guys are all about and try to see if they’ll fit our culture and what coach Vrabel’s trying to build.”

The comments from Wolf appear innocent on the surface, but they could possibly give insight into who has the final say over the Patriots roster — a very important responsibility as New England tries to orchestrate a rebuild after back-to-back disappointing 4-13 seasons.

Wolf seems to be giving way to Vrabel with his final line, indicating that it’s Vrabel who will have the final say on key roster decisions.

For now, Wolf remains in the mix with the Patriots as they prepare for free agency in March and April’s NFL draft. But after that, it remains up in the air if Wolf will even have a job with the Patriots as Vrabel has already made wholesale changes since taking the helm.
