New York Giants fans have been watching Saquon Barkley with a tinge of jealousy these days, as he has put together a season for the ages down I-95 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He became the ninth running back in NFL history to notch 2,000 rushing yards in a single season, and he will now have a shot at winning his first world championship when his Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9th.
Former Giants star quarterback Eli Manning was asked by Kay Adams while making an appearance on “Up & Adams” how he feels about Barkley’s season, and he had only good things to say about what the Offensive Player of the Year candidate has done.

When Barkley was with the Giants in his first six NFL seasons, he was on a team that was lacking in support, as he never had a great QB (Manning was in his last season when Barkley was a rookie), nor did he ever have a legitimate wide receiver threat to force safeties and linebackers to line up further back.
But in Philly, he has an excellent dual-threat signal-caller in Jalen Hurts, two wide receiver studs in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and one of the game’s best offensive lines.
The writing on the wall as far as Barkley’s fate with New York was made in 2023 when then-starting quarterback Daniel Jones was given a four-year, $160 million extension and Barkley didn’t get an extension of his own.
He played that season on the team’s non-exclusive franchise tag, and to this day, many feel he should’ve gotten an extension instead of Jones receiving one.
