Join us to discuss this NFC East rubber match with a Super Bowl-sized reward

The Washington Commanders march into Lincoln Financial Field this afternoon for a date with the Philadelphia Eagles. This afternoon serves as a rubber match for Washington and Philly, and a bit of a throwback for football fans old enough to remember when our nation’s capital had a really good football team not named the Baltimore Ravens.

For those who enjoy American history, this game also pits two factions of fans against one another for very different reasons. Back on July 16 of 1790, The Residence Act gave present-day Washington, D.C. claim to the nation’s capital. Though it’s long-ago history, surely some still harbor resentment at that fact.

For as much as quarterback Jalen Hurts is discussed in NFL circles, the Eagles now run through All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley. Why wouldn’t that be so? He’s fantastic, now ably running behind an outstanding offensive line.

Certainly, Jalen Hurts deserves his flowers given the knack for saving his best moments in the biggest spots. But Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels deserves just as much praise, if not more for how he performed as a rookie quarterback.

It’s rare for any rookie quarterback to win an NFL playoff game, yet here Daniels is vying for a shot at the Super Bowl. That’s a testament to not only Daniels and his position coaches, but to the team and the work that head coach Dan Quinn has done to turn around a previously moribund and mismanaged franchise.

This should be a great game between two teams that likely understand one another’s tells a bit more than other playoff opponents. Are you ready for some football?

Here’s your open thread for Commanders-Eagles. Who are you rooting for, and why? As always, be kind to one another — and in all things... Go Bills!
