The Philadelphia Eagles have mastered the fine art of making the most of players who struggled somewhere else.
That was the case with veteran OT Mekhi Becton.
Following years of struggles, injuries, and failing to live up to the hype with the New York Jets, he joined the Eagles on a one-year contract last offseason.
He knew he would have his work cut out for him to be a starting tackle, so he moved to guard.
That worked out perfectly, and he helped the team win a Super Bowl in his first season with the organization.
That’s why he didn’t hesitate to get a Vince Lombardi trophy tattoo on his arm (via John Clark).
“It still feels like a dream.“

The former first-round pick stated that the Eagles made him feel welcomed and as if he had been drafted by them.
Becton is perhaps the biggest offensive guard in the league, and that’s a lot to say.
The Eagles’ offensive line is an absolutely massive unit, and it may have been the key to their success.
Becton will now become a free agent again, but the team would be wise to bring him back if the price is right.
Of course, there will always be some concerns about his health, but he’s talented and physically gifted enough to be worth another chance.
But even if that’s not the case, no one can take his championship ring away from him.
He’s yet another example of how, sometimes, players just need a change of scenery to fulfill their destinies.
