Philadelphia Eagles fans took to the streets of Pittsburgh to celebrate their team’s win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night and into Monday morning.
The fans, mostly University of Pittsburgh students, took to the streets in celebration as the Eagles defeated the Chiefs, 40-22 on Sunday.

The student eruption caused streets to be shut down by university police, including Forbes Avenue, Bigelow Boulevard and South Boquet Street. All streets were re-opened by 11:35 p.m.
The fans were chanting “Go Birds” and also for former Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, who played a small part in the Eagles’ win on Sunday.

Former Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto chimed in on the celebrations.
“This is PITTSBURGH’s University neighborhood Oakland (Carlow, Pitt & CMU) right now,” Peduto wrote on X. “Lots of Philly students celebrating their Iggles. Enjoy. Obey the Law. Stay [off] the light poles.”

Climbing light poles has become a traditional part of such celebrations in Philadelphia, but turned tragic after the Eagles win in the NFC Championship Game, when a Temple student was killed in a fall from a light post.
Similar celebrations happened in Pittsburgh the last time the Eagles won the Super Bowl, beating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in February 2018.
