With AJ Brown officially gone but not forgotten from the Jefferson Healthy Training Complex, the Philadelphia Eagles continue to upgrade their roster heading into the summer, signing a pair of new players, journeyman guard Michael Jordan and ex-Buffalo Bills second-round pick AJ Epenesa, to contracts.

Breaking down the addition of Epenesa on social media, ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that the defensive lineman actually signed with the Cleveland Browns earlier in the spring, but after failing his physical, he now lands in Philadelphia, where he will look to make the 53-man roster.

“Eagles signed former Bills DE A.J. Epenesa,” Schefter wrote. “Epenesa originally was Buffalo’s 2020 second-round pick. He planned to sign with the Browns in March, but didn’t pass his physical. Now he lands in Philadelphia.”

A highly touted prospect coming out of Iowa who fell to the second round because of his underwhelming measurables, Epenesa has amassed 24 sacks over six seasons in Buffalo as an inside-out pass rusher. While he never truly broke out and became an elite player for the Bills, he did average 405 defensive snaps per season over the last six years, and 27, could still very much have a long and healthy career.

After a successful tryout earlier in the spring, Jordan now joins a deep offensive line grouping that does have a hole at the guard position behind the starters. He’s appeared in 78 games with 49 starts split between the Cincinnati Bengals, the Carolina Panthers, the New England Patriots, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and has experience in multiple different schemes. At worst, Jordan is a 28-year-old camp body but could end up filling a role behind Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen next to rookie sixth-round pick Micah Morris.

To make room for Epenesa and Jordan, the Eagles have waived linebackers Chandler Martin and Isiah King.
