When the Philadelphia Eagles finally traded AJ Brown to the New England Patriots on June 1, it answered a few questions and posited a few more.

How would the Eagles fare without their best wide receiver since Terrell Owens? Will Sean Mannion’s offense be able to overcome his absence with players like DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and Makai Lemon? And how will Brown perform with his childhood favorite team? Will he continue to average well over 1,000 yards, or will his production begin to dip as he gets older?

While most of those questions won’t be known for at least a few more months, one question that may have been answered, at least unofficially, is who will take over Brown’s No. 11 jersey, with the Eagles’ custom jersey shop auto-populating with Jihaad Campbell’s name when one selects the number.

Seems like there’s a new number 11 in town

If you go to create a custom Eagles jersey and go to the player drop down Jihaad Campbell automatically populates with 11

Now, as fans of college football will recall, wearing No. 11 is nothing new for Campbell, as the do-it-all defensive player wore it at Alabama during his impressive career, but had to opt for something new in the NFL, considering his teammate at the time already had it locked up. With Brown now gone and Nakobe Dean a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, Campbell will not only be wearing a new number but will be stepping up into a full-time starting role next to Zack Baun, with players like Smael Mondon Jr., Jeremiah Trotter Jr., and Deontae Lawson, his former Alabama teammate, serving as depth.

Will Campbell be able to step up and become a star on Brown’s level? It’s hard to say, but if he can just play at the same level as Dean, most fans will happily embrace a new No. 11 who is eager to play his part in another Eagles Super Bowl win.
