Eagles re-sign Lew Nichols, again

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed free agent running back Lew Nichols, according to an official team announcement.

Here’s a timeline of Nichols’ history with the Eagles:

• October 16, 2023 — Signed to the Eagles’ practice squad
• January 18, 2024 — Signed to the Eagles’ offseason roster
• August 27, 2024 — Waived by the Eagles
• December 26, 2024 — Signed to the Eagles’ practice squad
• December 31, 2024 — Released by the Eagles
• January 30, 2025 — Signed to the Eagles’ practice squad
• February 1, 2025 — Released by the Eagles

Nichols will likely spend the 2025 offseason with the Eagles as he tries to battle for a job on next season’s roster or practice squad.

The Eagles currently have four running backs under contract for 2025: Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, Tyrion Davis-Price, and Nichols. Kenny Gainwell is set to be a free agent in March and it’s possible he’ll leave Philly to sign with another team.
