Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has called the White House out for lying following one of the latest developments in which his name came up.

Several top athletes made their way to Washington last week after President Donald Trump reinstated the Presidential Fitness Test and set up a council of advisers.

Saquon wasn’t among those who made the trip to the White House but was listed as one of the members of the council.

He has since denied being part, revealing he declined because he has too much going on and it would be in his family’s best interest not to be involved.

“A couple months ago, it was brought to my team about the council. So I’m not really too familiar with it,” he said after Eagles practice on Monday.

“I felt like I am going to be super busy, so me and my family thought it would probably be of best interest to not accept that.”

Barkley said he was surprised to be considered for something as “great” as he reckons this is.

“I was definitely a little shocked when my name was mentioned,” he remarked. “I’m assuming it’s something great, so I appreciate it but was a little shocked when my name was mentioned.”

Saquon Barkley Has Spent Time With Donald Trump Since Winning The Super Bowl

Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing the council last Thursday, with the members tasked with advising him and making recommendations.

It will consist of up to 30 individuals, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and players Nick Bosa, Tua Tagovailoa, and Harrison Butker named. Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor, retired stars Jack Nicklaus and Wayne Gretzky, and current LIV Tour golfer Bryson DeChambeau were also included.

Barkley has spent time with Trump this year, visiting the White House with the Eagles after their Super Bowl win, playing golf with him in New Jersey, and even flying with him on Marine One.

It appears that’s as far as he’s willing to rush with the President.
