Kellen Moore continues building his staff:

The #Saints are hiring #Eagles QBs coach Doug Nussmeier as their new offensive coordinator under coach Kellen Moore, per The Insiders.

The favorite all along, Nussmeier lands in New Orleans with a ring to help teach Moore’s version of the scheme. An important hire. pic.twitter.com/aSAH5aX791

Nussmeier only spent one season in Philadelphia. He followed Kellen Moore from Dallas to LA to Philly, and now to New Orleans, where he was a backup quarterback in the mid-90s. His son Garrett is QB for the LSU Tigers, so it’s a move that made total sense for him on multiple fronts. He’s been an offensive coordinator in the college ranks, but never in the NFL, though Moore will be a head coach play caller in NOLA.

That’s two Eagles coaches now leaving for the Saints – Nussmeier and T.J. Paganetti, who was the run game specialist and assistant offensive line coach this past season. The Birds replaced Moore with an internal promotion for Kevin Patullo and can go in a number of directions with Nussmeier’s replacement. The previous QB coach was Alex Tanney, who linked up with Shane Steichen to become Indy’s offensive passing game coordinator in 2024. Before Tanney, it was two seasons of Brian Johnson, who then became OC before his unceremonious firing. Johnson is now assistant head coach & offensive pass game coordinator for the Washington Communists.
