The Philadelphia Eagles are currently taking part in offseason minicamp as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. The Eagles are hoping to bounce back after a subpar 2025 campaign that saw them lose in the Wild Card round to the San Francisco 49ers on the heels of their Super Bowl run the previous year.
Noticeably absent at minicamp on Wednesday was Eagles defensive star Jalen Carter, who is arguably the team’s best player on that side of the ball, and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni didn’t have much of an explanation for that when asked about it during his media availability.
“Nick Sirianni declined to say if #Eagles DT Jalen Carter’s absence was injury or contract related. Said he’s worked to get back to where he needs to be following shoulder procedures late last season,” reported Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer on X, formerly Twitter.
Carter had a bit of a turbulent 2025 season, which started in controversy when he was ejected for spitting in the face of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before even playing a snap in the first game of the year, and also saw his production drop off a bit from the highs of his 2025 season.
Still, Carter is overall one of the best defensive line players in the NFL and a force to be reckoned with both as a pass rusher and in the run game, so the Eagles would certainly like to sort out whatever is preventing him from being at minicamp as soon as possible.
