Eagles missed huge chance to close out the NFC East
Inside The Star Inside The Star

When Dallas fell to the Lions on Thursday night, it seemed like the last hope for the NFC East title for the Cowboys was fading.

The only small slimmer remaining was a total collapse of the first-place Philadelphia Eagles that would allow Dallas to capture the division title.

The Eagles were playing the Chargers on Monday night. But their quarterback, Justin Herbert, was coming off surgery on his non-throwing hand.

A Philadelphia win seemed likely.

Especially when the Eagles went up 19-16 late in the game.

Somehow, the Chargers rallied back. Cameron Dicker booted a field goal to send the game into overtime and another to take the lead in overtime.

Then Jalen Hurts, on the doorstep of no worse than a tying field goal, threw his fourth interception.

The Eagles lost.

The Cowboys are still in the hunt.

Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1)

After falling to the Lions on Thursday night in Detroit, the Cowboys’ hopes to capture the NFC East had taken a huge hit.

Fortunately, Hurts literally threw them back into contention on Monday night in Los Angeles.

The Eagles have two games against a Commanders team that is falling apart. They have a game against Las Vegas too.

That leaves just one obvious loss, to the Bills in Buffalo in Week 17.

With Dallas 1.5 games behind, it has to win out now to have any shot at all at passing the Eagles for first in the division.

The Chargers will be the toughest opponent left, although Minnesota might be dangerous. Overlooking the Commanders and Giants would be fool-hardy.

Dak Prescott will have to be perfect.

The Cowboys’ defense will have to do so much better than they did against the Lions too.

Next Game: vs. L.A. Chargers, Sunday, 7:20 p.m.

New York Giants (2-11)

There is some good news for the Giants coming into this game. They are now tied with the Titans and Raiders for the worst record in the NFL.

It will be interesting to see which of the three teams can tank the best play the worst football over the final four weeks of the season.

Hey, you’ve gotta earn that No. 1 pick, people.

Jaxson Dart might be the quarterback of the future for Big Blue. Cam Skattebo probably will be their RB1 too.

Getting a better o-line and defensive backfield should be something the Giants’ front office is already looking ahead to.

Next Game: vs. Washington, Sunday, Noon (CST)

Philadelphia Eagles (8-5)

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Oh wait, let me laugh even harder.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

The Eagles had a chance to all but lockup the NFC East on Monday night.

Instead, they have tumbled down to the No. 3 seed, 1.5 games behind the Packers. Even if they hang on to the NFC East title, they only lead #4 Tampa Bay by a game.

Hurts failed to throw a touchdown pass on Monday night, but he did manage four picks. He even managed to throw an interception and fumble the ball away to...
