The Philadelphia Eagles will look a bit different for the upcoming season, and many people knew that coming into the offseason. A.J. Brown was traded over a week ago, and it felt like the writing was on the wall once he didn’t seem happy with the direction of the offense last season. That seemed to create a disconnect between Brown and Jalen Hurts, who were once seen as close friends off the football field.

Hurts spoke to the media for the first time after Brown’s exit and shared his perspective about the wide receiver’s departure.

“I’m not in the space to challenge anyone’s perspective on anything,” Hurts said. “That’s where I am. I’ve always been focused on the collective; I’ve always put my energy towards that. As a leader, I’ve always put an onus on giving back effort to achieve the shared mission we have on the team.”

Hurts was then asked if there was any disappointment in how Brown’s tenure with the Eagles ended.

“You come into it, and you have a sense of pride in how it began and what we were able to accomplish,” Hurts said. “Nothing can take that away for the great things that we did. Now it’s time to focus on achieving great things with this new direction of the team.”

In Brown’s first sit-down interview after being traded, he was asked about his relationship with Hurts.

“[We’re] not as close as we once were,” Brown said to Maria Taylor on 7PM in Brooklyn. “That’s fine, there’s no bad blood. There’s actually still a lot of love, I love him. I want him to succeed and accomplish all of the things he wants to accomplish.”

Despite how the final year of them playing together went, Hurts and Brown shared a lot of success that can’t be erased.
