The Philadelphia Eagles could get a boost to their secondary in the coming weeks.
They have opened the 21-day practice window for cornerback Jakorian Bennett and signed guard Sua Opeta to the practice squad.
It is unlikely either will play against the New York Giants in Week 8.

When ready, Bennett could put some pressure on fellow cornerbacks Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson.
The fact that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio didn’t rule Bennett out against New York speaks volumes about how he may feel about his struggling secondary.
Cooper DeJean continues to be locked in as a legitimate star, and Quinyon Mitchell has done a great job at nickel, but that hasn’t been the case with Jackson and Ringo.
Now, with Bennett, they could have a legitimate opportunity to make changes.
As for Opeta, he is familiar with the organization and should provide some depth if needed.
He spent the previous season on injured reserve with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and re-signed with them earlier this season.
He spent time on the practice squad before being released this month.
The Eagles’ offensive line has dealt with injuries this season, with Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, Tyler Steen and Cam Jurgens all a little banged up.
So, while Opeta might be nothing more than an insurance policy, he can be a plug-and-play guy as well, given his experience with the scheme and the personnel.
