Eagles-Commanders snap counts: Will Shipley shines

Playing time analysis.

The official snap counts from the Philadelphia Eagles’ NFC Championship Game win over the Washington Commanders are in! Let’s take a look and run through some analysis.

OFFENSE

• Tyler Steen got the start at left guard. He was clearly no hindrance to an offense that was able to put up 55 points.
• Jalen Hurts played a great game and, as a result, was able to leave a little early.
• Lane Johnson got some rest late in the game with Fred Johnson coming in for him at right tackle.
• A.J. Brown had his most productive game of the playoffs by far. He caught six of his eight yards for a team-high 96 receiving yards and one touchdown.
• DeVonta Smith was efficient with four targets for four catches and 45 yards. He also drew a defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone to set up a Brotherly Shove touchdown.
• Dallas Goedert was also efficient with eight targets resulting in seven receptions for 85 yards. He also had two jet sweep carries (!) for 13 more yards. Goedert’s been really good in the playoffs.
• Saquon Barkley only needed 16 touches to account for 122 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns. Barkley only finished with fewer than 16 touches in two games this season: the Eagles’ Week 4 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their Week 10 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Between a relatively light workload and two weeks before the Super Bowl kicks off, Barkley should be well-rested and ready to go.
• Landon Dickerson got the start at center with Cam Jurgens active as an emergency backup. Dickerson got banged up but played through pain to finish out the first half. Jurgens was then able to gut out his back injury to get the Eagles through the final two quarters.
• Kenny Gainwell was ruled out after suffering a concussion.
• Parris Campbell played his first career playoff offensive snaps in garbage time.
• Will Shipley had a pretty awesome game! The rookie running back 1) had a nice 35-yard kick return, 2) forced a fumble for an Eagles recovery on kickoff coverage, and 3) logged four carries for 77 yards and one touchdown.
• Brett Toth finished the game out at center in garbage time.
• Kenny Pickett came in to hand off the ball and take two kneels to run out the clock.
• Fullback Khari Blasingame is up to five offensive snaps in six games played for the Eagles.

DEFENSE

• Eagles rookie cornerbacks Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell each had two passes defensed. Mitchell also had an interception.
• Zack Baun had a team-high 12 total tackles.
• Darius Slay missed some snaps after limping off the field late in the fourth quarter but he seemed to be in good spirits after the game.
