The Philadelphia Eagles can check one achievement off the list of season goals with a win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
The Birds are a 3.5-point favorite and the over/under sits at 45.5.
A win nets the Eagles the NFC East title, and, at minimum, it allows them to keep pace with the Detroit Lions in the race for the No. 1 seed.
In the first meeting with Washington, the Birds covered the four-point spread and the under of 49 points hit. The cover was part of a current Eagles run in which they are 5-1 against the spread in the last six games.
It’s also worth noting that during that stretch the Eagles are 5-1 to the under and no opponent has scored more than 20 points against Vic Fangio’s defense.
The Commanders’ team total is listed at over/under 20.5 points and DraftKings has Washington’s team touchdowns prop at over/under 2.5. I’d look into the under on both props because of the Eagles’ recent form and the Commanders’ lackluster 20-point performance in New Orleans last week.
I don’t want to use the F word, but the Commanders at least have fraudulent qualities. They are 2-3 in their last five games and the only convincing win was against the Tennessee Titans (not that impressive). If they lose on Sunday, the Commanders might be in danger of missing the playoffs, and yet some people thought they could contend for the NFC East crown.
The Eagles will probably utilize Saquon Barkley, Saquon Barkley, and even more Saquon Barkley at FedEx Field.
Barkley ran for 146 yards and two scores in the first meeting with Washington. His rushing-yard prop sits at over/under 98.5.
Washington’s defense held its last three opponents under 100 rushing yards, but it allowed a season high 228 to the Eagles.
Dallas Goedert was the only player to go over his receiving-yard prop in Week 11 against the Commanders. A.J. Brown is listed at over/under 75.5 receiving yards and DeVonta Smith is over/under 53.5. I’d be skeptical about both overs just because of how much the rushing attack dominated the Commanders.
The one under that should have your attention for PA sports betting is Terry McLaurin’s receiving-yard prop of 60.5. He had one catch on two targets for 10 yards in Week 11, mostly thanks to Quinyon Mitchell’s coverage.
Jayden Daniels had 191 passing yards in that game, but most of them went to Austin Ekeler, who had eight catches for 89 yards. Ekeler is out with a concussion so there isn’t even a checkdown option for Daniels to work with.
It really does feel like Barkley or bust when it comes to player props, but regardless of who plays well, as long as the division is wrapped up on Sunday, everyone will come away happy.
