The New England Patriots picked up a 33-15 win over the New York Giants in Week 13, and with another strong outing in the books, second-year quarterback Drake Mayeβ€˜s star profile has only continued to rise.

Considering how he has emerged as the MVP frontrunner this season, it’s safe to say that Maye has been stellar throughout the year. That was particularly true against the Giants, as he completed 24 of his 31 pass attempts for 282 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 12 yards on six carries.

It feels like this is almost becoming a common sort of performance for Maye, which says a lot because these numbers are very impressive. Case in point, Maye was awarded the AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award for his performance against the Giants.

This is the first time in his young career that Maye has won this award, and if he keeps on playing at this high level, it likely won’t be the last time he wins it either. The last time a Patriots player won this award was back in 2017, when Dion Lewis won it after racking up 153 total yards and two touchdowns against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

Through 13 games now, Maye is leading the league in passing yards (3,412), completion percentage (71.5%) and passer rating (111.9), while also accounting for 25 total touchdowns. New England is 11-2 as a result, and it could very well be a real Super Bowl contender.

Maye and the rest of his teammates will enjoy some downtime during their much-needed bye week in Week 14, before returning to action in Week 15. When the Pats do get back on the field, they will take on the Buffalo Bills in a rematch from earlier this season, when N.E. prevailed by a score of 23-20.
