Drake Maye Reveals Reason for His Consistent Performances in 2025

Drake Maye has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season. The young passer showed promise as a rookie in 2024, but he’s fully broken out this season and been everything the team hoped he’d be.

In Week 7, Maye played an almost perfect game as he led his Patriots to a dominant 31-13 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The quarterback completed 21 of his 23 pass attempts for 222 yards and two touchdowns. The quarterback also eight times for 62 yards on the day as the Patriots gained just under 400 total yards of offense.

After the game, Maye was asked about why he’s so consistent in 2025. The quarterback quickly pointed to his teammates as the reason for his success.

“The guys around me,” Maye said on Sunday, via 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Alex Barth, “We’re instilling confidence in each other.”

That answer definitely makes sense as Maye has a much better supporting cast than he did last season. Veteran Stefon Diggs was added this offseason, and the receiver has quickly become a security blanket for the young quarterback. Diggs has 39 catches for 456 yards so far in 2025.

Fellow receiver Kayshon Boutte has also stepped up in a big way. The LSU product already has 20 catches for 356 yards and four scores on the season. Four touchdowns is already a new career-high for Boutte, and he’s on pace to set career-highs in catches and yards as well.

Finally, the running game looks to have turned a corner in Week 7. After weeks of subpar performances on the ground, veteran Rhamondre Stevenson finally got going against the Titans. The veteran rushed 18 times for 88 yards and one score against the Titans.

The Patriots are now sitting at 5-2 and are in first place in the AFC East. Next on the docket are games against the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons.
