Drake Maye kept the good times rolling on Sunday.
The 23-year-old quarterback led the New England Patriots to a 25-19 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Maye starred in another methodical performance, completing 18 of 26 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns at the Superdome.
Maye joined illustrious company with the Week 6 effort. NFL+ noted that he’s the fourth quarterback, alongside Dan Marino, Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott, to post at least 200 passing yards and a 100 quarterback rating in five straight games at age 23 or younger.
ESPN Insights also pointed out that Maye became the first Patriots quarterback since Tom Brady in 2019 to accrue 250 passing yards and three touchdowns in a win.
Maye has completed 75.9 percent of his passes over that five-game window, accounting for 11 touchdowns (nine passing, two rushing) to just one interception. Last year’s No. 3 overall pick is averaging 10.1 yards per pass attempt during New England’s three-game winning streak.
After Sunday’s strong outing, Maye moved to fourth with a 112.5 quarterback rating behind Lamar Jackson (who missed the last two games), Jared Goff and Sam Darnold. He’s gradually creeping his way into the MVP conversation.
The Patriots matched last season’s win total and are 3-0 away from Gillette Stadium, but Maye wouldn’t get ahead of himself after Sunday’s victory, per the team transcript.
“We have more work to do, I think that’s the big thing,” Maye said. “It feels good getting a win consistently. Three in a row, and we have to keep going. It feels good to win again and to win on the road, it’s always nice to win on the road. I’m just trying to step up leadership-wise. The defense played and covered us in the second half.”
The Patriots can stay hot when they play the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.
