Drake Maye continued an encouraging start with another methodical performance on Sunday.

The second-year quarterback led the New England Patriots to a 42-13 win over the Carolina Panthers. Maye made every throw count, completing 14 of 17 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns alongside his second rushing touchdown of the 2025 season.

NFL Media’s Jack Andrade noted after the Week 4 triumph that Maye extended a notable streak. He’s now completed at least 75 percent of his passes and thrown two passing touchdowns in three straight games.

Patriots fans will especially like the next part. Tom Brady is the only quarterback to meet those barometers in four straight games, and he did so to start New England’s 16-0 season in 2007.

Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Kurt Warner are among the other signal-callers who reached those marks in three straight games, and they all won MVP honors that season.

Maye’s sophomore season didn’t start as smoothly, as he went 30-of-46 for 287 yards, a touchdown and a pick in New England’s Week 1 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. He’s since notched a 79.2 percent completion rate (61-of-77) with 701 passing yards and 87 rushing yards.

The 23-year-old registered a career-high 155.6 passer rating on Sunday, averaging 11.9 yards per attempt. New England scored touchdowns on five of eight drives before Joshua Dobbs finished the game under center.

After the game, a reporter asked Maye if this style of play is the best version of his game. Maye is primarily concerned about the final score.

“If it leads to wins, that’s what I’m trying to become,” Maye replied.

Maye will attempt to match Brady in the record books when the Patriots play the Buffalo Bills in Week 5’s monumental “Sunday Night Football” clash.
