The Patriots’ current starter is taking lessons from the greatest quarterback of all time.
Drake Maye has some massive shoes to fill. The reference point for every New England Patriots quarterback, after all, is the greatest of all time, Tom Brady.
Drake Maye has ways to go before coming anywhere close to what Brady accomplished in his two decades in New England. However, he is taking lessons from his predecessor in order to better his game.
“The one thing with Tom, he always knew where to go with the football,” Maye told Kay Adams. “I think, Tom was great with knowing where to go with the football, beating blitzers, knowing where to go before the snap. I think that’s the best thing I saw. And his feet: his feet were always in the ground ready to throw.
“That’s the big things I saw from watching him on tape. I think just knowing where to go with the football, and just the stuff you see on TV with the leadership and now knowing what he was doing is pretty cool.”
Maye started 10 games as a rookie in 2024, and is entering 2025 working with Tom Brady’s former offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels.
