New England Patriots - NESN.com
The Patriots are having a fantastic season, but many people are skeptical of New England’s “easy schedule”.
According to Tankathon.com, the Patriots have the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL. However, Drake Maye didn’t want to hear about New England’s schedule.
“We play in the National Football League,” Maye said on Wednesday. “Every team has great players. It’s not like we’re playing Foxborough High School down the road.”
Maye makes an excellent point about the NFL: each team has a handful of standout players. Unlike college football, where only a few teams are truly competitive, and the rest of the field is more evenly matched.
It’s not the Patriots’ fault that most of their opponents weren’t great this season. But New England still took care of business, even going undefeated on the road, which is truly impressive.
Many teams would love to be in the Patriots’ position, winning their division and setting themselves up for a playoff run. New England shouldn’t feel bad that its schedule wasn’t as daunting as others.
New England will have the opportunity to prove that its performance this season wasn’t just a result of an easy schedule, as the Patriots prepare to face the toughest teams in the AFC when the postseason kicks off next week.
