The Miami Dolphins will be without former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller for the second game in a row when the team takes on the New England Patriots in Week 2 on Sunday.

According to a report by David Furones of the Orlando Sentinel, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Friday morning that Waller would miss Sunday’s contest, but star wideout Jaylen Waddle was set to play in the AFC East clash.

Waddle was limited at practice this week due to a shoulder injury while Waller has yet to make his Miami debut due to a hip issue. The 2020 Pro Bowler was traded to the Dolphins from the New York Giants on July 1.

Both Miami and New England are battling a host of injuries heading into Week 2, with the former also set to be without right tackle Austin Jackson (toe), right guard James Daniels (pectoral), nose tackle Benito Jones (oblique) and cornerback Storm Duck (ankle).

The Patriots are expected to be without star cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) for the second consecutive week, while defensive end Keion White wasn’t spotted at practice on Friday morning. White has been out of practice for the entire week thus far, due to an illness.

Miami and New England kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
