The Miami Dolphins lost star wide receiver Tyreek Hill for the remainder of the 2025 season after the 31-year-old veteran suffered a season-ending leg injury in Monday Night’s 27-21 victory over the New York Jets. It was a catastrophic injury, one that could forever change Hill’s playing career.

Losing a player of Hill’s caliber will be hard to replace. Nearly impossible, but as with everything in life, the team must push on and try to alleviate the void left behind by The Cheetah’s absence. The team has a few in-house options, some of which could see more playing time over the coming weeks, including a favorite of mine in Tahj Washington.

There are a few practice squad receivers who could potentially earn playing time, as well, including AJ Henning and Theo Wease Jr. However, with a veteran like Hill out, the team did exactly what any team would do. They poached a familiar veteran, with experience in the offense, from another team’s roster.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Miami Dolphins are signing Cedrick Wilson Jr.

The six-year NFL veteran was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (208th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. After a career-high season where he caught 45 passes for 602 yards and six touchdowns, Wilson decided to test free agency, signing with the Dolphins in March 2022. In fact, he was one of the first signings of the Mike McDaniel era.

In his two seasons with Miami, Wilson caught 34 of 56 passes for 432 yards and three touchdowns.

Last year, Wilson caught 20 of 27 targets for 211 yards and one touchdown with the Saints.

Wilson was waived by the Saints on September 18th and signed to the practice squad on September 22nd. He will now bring a familiar face and veteran leadership to a Dolphins offense that looks to carry on in the absence of their star wide receiver.

But if you ask me, the next man up should be Tahj ‘don’t call me Malik’ Washington. What say you?
