Miami Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick suffered a calf injury early in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s questionable to return.
Fitzpatrick, who played six years with the Steelers, was a part of the blockbuster trade with the Dolphins for defensive back Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith this offseason.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and almost the entire defense went out on the field around Fitzpatrick when he was down injured.
Metcalf tossed Fitzpatrick on his 28-yard catch-and-run touchdown to extend the Steelers’ lead to 21-3 in the third quarter.

Minkah Fitzpatrick downplayed the revenge game narrative for his return to Pittsburgh on Monday night.
“The only reason why it’s a big week this week is because we’ve got a game and we’ve got to win it,” Fitzpatrick said.
The Dolphins have been on a tear as of late, winning four straight games. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin called the Dolphins “as hot as any team in the NFL” ahead of their Week 15 matchup.
The Dolphins fizzled out in the frigid weather in Pittsburgh on Monday night. The Steelers lead 28-3 early in the fourth quarter.
Fitzpatrick hasn’t created a lot of turnovers, but he’s still a force in the Dolphins’ secondary. Heading into Monday night’s game, Fitzpatrick recorded 76 total tackles (56 solos), one interception, six passes defended, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, three tackles for loss, two quarterback hits.
Fitzpatrick did not enjoy his first run in Miami, where he was a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He clashed with then-head coach Brian Flores over his role and disliked the Dolphins’ approach to the 2019 season — when owner Stephen Ross allegedly pressured Flores to tank.
None of those factors — save Ross — remain with the Dolphins. Fitzpatrick and Flores reconciled when he was hired in Pittsburgh in 2022.
Fitzpatrick admitted that he was emotionally immature as a young player and has leaned about how to better communicate and has grown.
