The long-anticipated phone call has been made. The Miami Dolphins are hoping to get involved in the John Harbaugh sweepstakes, looking to hire the former Baltimore Ravens head coach for the same position in South Florida. Reports over the past several days have conflicted on whether Miami had already contacted Harbaugh’s agent, but now it has officially happened.
Miami has moved fast this offseason to reset the franchise, but it has done so with a deliberate methodology. The team’s first move was to hire their new general manager, filling the vacancy with Jon-Eric Sullivan on Friday. They will now begin the process of filling the head coaching vacancy.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and confirmed by the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Dolphins reached out to Harbaugh in the past 24 hours to start working toward an interview. No interview has been scheduled, but Harbaugh is believed to be waiting until next week to start the process from his side.
The New York Giants are also looking to hire Harbaugh and are believed to be among the favorites for the former NFL Coach of the Year.
