Quarterback Skylar Thompson and former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie were signed to the practice squad.
The Miami Dolphins announced four roster moves on Tuesday ahead of Sunday’s Week 16 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
Wide receiver Grant DuBose was placed on injured reserve. A 2023 seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers, he played 11 snaps Sunday against the Houston Texans before suffering a head injury on a helmet-to-helmet hit.
The Dolphins also signed Jake McQuaide — the first active long snapper on the active roster since playing Blake Ferguson on the non-football illness list on Oct. 19. Miami leveraged the roster spot in other ways by rotating long snappers on the practice squad — starting with Matt Overton, then Tucker Addington, and Zach Triner most recently.
Ferguson’s practice window was recently opened and he fully practiced each of the last two weeks, but Miami instead went with McQuaide - a 14-year NFL veteran who earned Pro Bowl nods in 2016 and 2017 — after elevating Triner three times.
The Dolphins also signed quarterback Skyler Thompson and former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie to the practice squad. Thomspon remains Miami’s third-string quarterback while McKenzie could see playing time down the stretch with injuries building at receiver.
