The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a weather advantage over the Miami Dolphins on Monday night with projected forecasts calling for it to be 20 degrees on the banks of the three rivers. That means it could be a run-heavy game for both teams, and that bodes well for the red-hot Dolphins’ rushing attack.
The Dolphins have recorded 160+ rushing yards in each of last four games, the first time with 160+ rushing yards in four straight since Weeks 2-5 in 1977, according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. The Dolphins’ 192.3 rushing yards per game since Week 10 is the most in NFL.
To say the least, the Steelers’ run defense has not been good this year. They’ve allowed over 200 yards rushing in each of their last two games, including an Acrisure Stadium record 249 yards allowed to the Buffalo Bills.
The Steelers have given up a league high 785 yards rushing since Week 10 and third-most per game (157).

Mina Kimes of ESPN thinks the Dolphins’ run game will give the Steelers’ defense fits. The Steelers could be without All-Pro outside linebacker T.J. Watt (lung) on Monday night, as well, which won’t make things easier.
“It’s going to cause specific problems for this Steelers’ defense,” Kimes said on Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny. “They have the highest percentage of explosive runs in the league right now. Achne leads all backs in rush yards over expected carry. The Steelers struggle with all of this, man. I’d be worried if I’m Pittsburgh, with what this Dolphins’ offense is putting on tape.”
Dolphins running back De’Von Achane has been on a tear this season, rushing for 1,126 yards on 193 carries (5.8 average) and four touchdowns. He also has 55 receptions for 383 yards (7.0 average) and four touchdowns.
Stopping Achane and the Dolphins’ lethal rushing attack will be pivotal for a Steelers’ run defense that has been exposed far too often this year.
