Former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Christian Wilkins played only five games in his first season with the Raiders.
The Miami Dolphins were projected to receive a pair of third-round compensatory picks for the 2025 NFL Draft after guard Robert Jones and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins left in free agency with $100-million contracts — that may not be the case.
Nick Korte, an Over The Cap contributor, shared on X that Wilkins’ value in the compensatory formula could drop from a third to a fourth-round pick because he played less than 25% of snaps in his first season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He appeared in five games, recording 11 tackles and two sacks before undergoing surgery for a Jones fracture in early October.
Miami traded its own 2025 third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to select running back Jaylen Wright in the fourth round of last year’s draft and gained a fifth-round selection from the Denver Broncos as part of the Bradley Chubb trade. On top of that, the Dolphins traded a sixth and gained a seventh from the Chicago Bears in the Chase Claypool trade.
The news of Wilkins’ compensatory pick falling a round doesn’t derail Miami’s offseason plans, but it’s a step in the wrong direction for a franchise desperate for a youth movement on both sides of the ball.
