The Miami Dolphins announced a celebration of the team’s 60th anniversary during their Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Framing it as being thankful for 60 years of football in the Thanksgiving day announcement, the Dolphins posted a letter to the fans on X. Included in the announcement is the team’s plan to wear their throwback uniforms for the game.

“Happy Thanksgiving! On behalf of the entire Miami Dolphins organization, we want you to know how grateful we are for you and your loyalty and support over the years,” the announcement began.

A couple of paragraphs later, the letter read, “This December, we are excited to share that we will be celebrating you, our Dolphins family, and 60 incredible years of Dolphins football together.”

The announcement then lays out plans to toast the Founding Members from the 1966 season, “celebrating the fans who started this incredible tradition of loyalty.” They will also spotlight some of the greatest players in each of the team’s six decades of football.

The team will be wearing the aqua version of the throwback uniforms for the game.

The game is scheduled to be a Sunday Night Football matchup, kicking off at 8:20 p.m. Eastern. If the Dolphins can climb back into playoff contention before that game, highlighting the 60 years of the team could be enough to keep the game in the primetime slot. If Miami falls out of the playoff picture, the league could look to flex another game into the timeslot, moving the Dolphins into an afternoon game.

The league has until December 15 to make that decision.
