The wolves are out for the firing of Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, and the players are weighing in on that matter and on Aaron Rodgers. That includes DK Metcalf, who sounded off after the playoff debacle about whether he wants Rodgers to return.

The Steelers suffered a second-half humiliation at the hands of the Texans, falling on their faces in a 30-6 crushing defeat in an AFC Wild Card game.

Still, Metcalf said he would like to run it back with Rodgers, according to a team transcript via NBC Sports.

“I’m gonna let everybody settle down and give him a month or two off, but hopefully he comes back,” Metcalf said.

Steelers DE Cam Heyward says it’s up to Aaron Rodgers

Respect needs to be given to Rodgers, who should make his own choice, Heyward said, according to the Washington Post via NBC Sports.

“I’m not going to play GM right now,” Heyward said, via Mark Maske of the Washington Post. “If 8 wants to come back, he has a right to come back. I’d like to see him come back.

“I’m not going to make that decision. It’s not fair to the Steelers. It’s not fair to 8. I have a lot of respect for the organization and Aaron. He’s earned my respect for what he’s been through this year. And he’s a hell of a teammate. I’m just very thankful I got to play with that quarterback.”

It wasn’t a great night for any of the Steelers. And Metcalf had his hand in the muddy pie. He dropped a pass early in the game that seemed to be a precursor for bad things to come.

Still, there is a lot of talk that this was Rodgers’ last hurrah as an NFL quarterback. If so, he went 17 for 33 for just 146 yards with a touchdown and a pick-six in what may have been his last NFL pass.

Rodgers said he wouldn’t make an off-the-cuff decision, according to ESPN.

“I’m not going to make any emotional decisions,” Rodgers said. “I’m disappointed. Obviously, it was such a fun year. A lot of adversity but a lot of fun.”
