Does Joe Burrow Want To Be Traded?

Another lost season for the Cincinnati Bengals has invited some speculation as to whether Joe Burrow either wants to or would welcome a trade. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft has proven to be one of the best quarterbacks and best overall players in the league, earning Pro Bowl honors twice.

Considering he’s had three of his six seasons impacted by injuries, 2/3 isn’t bad. Plus, he led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns last year when he was available for the full season.

Yet, the Bengals have only made the playoffs twice in six seasons, and their last postseason appearance came back in 2022. Is Burrow getting fed up with all the losing, especially with a lack of supporting cast on a defense that has ranked in the bottom tier all but two years of his NFL career?

Some believe Burrow, an Ohio native, has already quietly let the Bengals know that he’s open to a trade behind the scenes. Yet, that doesn’t appear to be true.

According to ESPN NFL insiders Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler, Burrow has done nothing to indicate that he’s looking to join a new team anytime in the near future.

It’s not the Bengals’ fault Burrow has gotten hurt often. Could the offensive line be better? Absolutely. But this is football, injuries are unpredictable and often unpreventable too.

Yet, that doesn’t mean Cincinnati can’t do a much better job of building around their elite franchise QB, and improving the defense would go a long way toward improving their playoff odds.
