A popular sports doctor and injury expert has shared a take on Justin Jefferson’s fitness setback following Friday’s announcement.
The Minnesota Vikings revealed having shut the wide receiver down following a hamstring injury sustained in practice on Thursday.
Jefferson started the day’s session but went off early after feeling tightness in his leg.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters the wideout is dealing with a minor strain, but they are being cautious and plan to re-evaluate him next week
“We avoided anything serious,” O’Connell said. “I see no concerns in regards to the season opener, and I have no worry at all that we’ll be able to get Justin ready to go for the regular season.”
Dr. Jesse Morse has shared a video in which he voices his expert opinion on the matter, saying he’s not “super concerned. ” However, this could be a big problem if it’s a re-injury to the previously problematic area that sidelined the wideout for seven games in 2023.

Justin Jefferson also spoke to reporters on Friday, echoing his head coach in terms of the precautionary approach.
“With the past recent injuries and the stuff I went through before, just taking precaution and understanding that it’s the second day of camp, not the 30th,” he said. “Just making sure that I’m fully healthy and I’m good to go, especially when the season starts.”
The Vikings are expected to release another update next week.
