PITTSBURGH — Just as his quarterback did last week against the New York Jets, PIttsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf is not getting caught up in the storylines of a revenge game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

“Y’all gonna make it a big deal, but I’m not,” Metcalf told reporters.

Metcalf will get a crack at his former team in the Steelers’ home opener on Sunday. Metcalf had six great years with the Seahawks, but he did express frustration with the coaching staff about his usage in 2024. Metcalf openly expressed a desire to move on from the Seahawks, citing a feeling of being an outsider in the locker room.

Metcalf formally requested a trade from the Seahawks on March 5. He was traded to the Steelers just four days later.

As part of the deal, Pittsburgh also gave Metcalf a massive five-year, $150 million contract.

Metcalf looks forward to facing his former teammates on Sunday, especially going up against cornerbacks Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen.

“Our practice reps going against each other, we have history,” Metcalf said. “Just the way they play the game, I know Coach Macdonald is going to have them ready. Whatever scheme they play, they’ll play it to the best of their ability.”

Metcalf turned heads in his Steelers debut on Sunday, recording four receptions for a team-high 83 yards (20.8 average). Of his 83 yards receiving, 68 yards came after the catch. He also had a key 11-yard grab on the Steelers’ drive late in the fourth quarter to set up the 60-yard game-winning field goal for Chris Boswell.

Aaron Rodgers gave Metcalf high praise during his media availability on Wednesday.

“He’s about the right stuff,” Rodgers said. “He cares about it enough to watch the film and put in the time and take notes and ask questions and come over and sit next to me during the week … that’s unfortunately not the standard around the league.”

Rodgers and Metcalf look to continue their rapport against Seattle on Sunday. Seattle has two Pro Bowl cornerbacks in Witherspoon and Woolen and a Pro Bowler at free safety in Julian Love, so it definitely will be a tougher test than what the Jets had in their secondary.
