Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

Merry Christmas to all the Detroit Lions who celebrate. I hope your day is filled with joy and creates some life-long memories for you and your loved ones.

Obviously, this is a bit of a unique Christmas for Detroit Lions fans, who get to watch their team play on a national stage at 4:30 p.m. ET against the Minnesota Vikings. But let’s put the game aside for a second and talk about those permanent memories of yours.

If you’re like me, a lot of your childhood was spent receiving Detroit Lions-related gifts during the holidays. That was your “thing,” and it made you a pretty easy person to shop for on Christmas. Whether it was a jersey, a hat, football cards, or big things like signed memorabilia or game tickets, you were bound to get at least a few Lions-related gifts every year.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

What is the best Lions-related Christmas gift you’ve ever received or given?

My answer: I feel like it’s important to throw in gifts you’ve given to others, as many of you have passed on your Lions fandom to the next generation or a partner or maybe even just a good friend.

There have been a lot throughout the years, but I’ll list a few of my favorite. My Lions helmet Lego set was a fun little challenge for me to make. I also received an incredibly thoughtful gift from a good friend you may know: a framed edition of my first ever published, in-print work, which remains proudly posted right next to my working space. Finally, I really like the panoramic art I have of Ford Field from the first every Detroit Lions game played there. At this point, it serves as a great reminder of just how far the franchise has come in nearly 25 years.
