Discussion: What do you want to see from the Lions’ final 2 games?
Pride of Detroit Pride of Detroit

The Detroit Lions aren’t mathematically eliminated from the NFL playoff race, but they are beyond a long shot at this point. They need the Green Bay Packers to lose both of their remaining games (vs. Ravens, at Vikings) and the Lions need to win their remaining two games (at Vikings, at Bears). Prediction models have that probability at somewhere between 5-10%, depending on your source. Given how the Lions have played over the past couple of months, I think it’s pretty safe to say that playoff hopes are pretty much gone at this point.

But there are two games left to play. It’s been a while since we’ve had to watch some “meaningless” Lions football, but I know a bunch of you are going to be watching anyway. So today’s Question of the Day is:

What do you want to see in the Lions’ final 2 games?

My answer: First of all, I better not see any quit in this team. One of the most defining features of this team under Dan Campbell has been their fight to the very end, even during their tough opening season. Detroit wasn’t good enough to win a lot of games back in 2021, but they would fight like hell until the clocks hit 0:00. Even last week, when I figured the game was pretty much over following a two-possession lead by the Steelers, they nearly clawed their way back to an improbable win. If that leaves this team, it will be a sign of lost buy-in, and that is the one thing this team cannot afford right now.

In terms of more tangible things to see, it would be really nice to see the offensive line get its act together and find some solutions for 2026 and beyond. The disappearance of the run game has been one of the bigger reasons this team has struggled recently, and while the Vikings aren’t exactly the best opponent for a bounce-back running game, it would go a long way to rebuild faith that there could be some optimism with the offensive line moving forward—especially if young pieces like Tate Ratledge and Christian Mahogany show up in a big way.
