Social media has had plenty to say since the Philadelphia Eagles’ actual plans for the White House were revealed earlier on Monday.
Talk of the Super Bowl 59 winners rejecting an invitation to visit the President’s official residence was rife over the weekend, spilling into this week as well. The WH responded to the supposed report with claims that an invitation hadn’t been extended, although no one from the Eagles confirmed the claims.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter has since reported that the team plans to go to Washington if they are invited. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport has also revealed that some people within the organization would be “honored” to make the visit.

The Eagles famously declined the White House invite after winning their first Super Bowl in 2018. Donald Trump, who was serving in his first term as POTUS, withdrew the invitation after reports noting that most of the players were against making the trip.
The U.S. Sun reported that the team wasn’t interested in going this time around either, citing a “well-placed insider” who revealed a team meeting produced a “massive no.”
The report added that the NFC outfit was still bitter about the President’s pulling his offer back, as there were players who wanted to go and were looking forward to participating in community activities in Washington.
It appears the source wasn’t that well-placed after all.
