Jon Gruden has hinted that he may return to coach the Las Vegas Raiders.
Gruden has unfinished business in Vegas after spending two coaching stints with the team, the second being cut short by resignation.
The Raiders are reportedly considering a change at head coach. Pete Carroll hasn’t quite worked out, and the feeling is he might not get another year.
Carroll was hired in 2025, having put together a long and successful career with the Seattle Seahawks. The Raiders hoped to become contenders under Carroll, reuniting him with Geno Smith.
They went on to win just two games.
Meanwhile, Gruden appears to be monitoring the situation. He took to X on Sunday night to post a GIF showing a Raiders flag.
Check it out below:
Gruden’s left plenty of room for speculation here. The overriding notion is that he is in line to replace Carroll or, at the very least, wants to.
The 62-year-old stepped down from his position as Raiders HC in 2021 after leaked emails exposed offensive and discriminatory comments. He has worked in consultancy roles since then.
The scandal has overshadowed his accomplishments, keeping him on the coaching periphery. However, he is still respected as one of the best football minds around.
