Safe to say Joe Milton III does not miss the New England Patriots.

The Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback again relayed those sentiments when he spoke to reporters at training camp on Thursday. Milton was traded to Dallas this offseason, less than one year after New England drafted him in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Milton confirmed he “preferred” an offseason trade.

“That was something me and my team put together,” Milton told reporters, per Cowboys staff writer Tommy Yarrish. “They were able to get it done, I really didn’t have to do much or say much. So just shout out to my agent, that’s pretty much it.”

Milton, who started in Week 18 after serving as a third-stringer to veteran Jacoby Brissett and fellow rookie Drake Maye, also reflected on his Patriots tenure as he lauded Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

“Dak is a great leader,” Milton said. “All respect to him. He literally goes out of his way to help me, no matter if the coach is talking in the meeting, he literally goes out of his way to help.

“I’ve been in another building. I know how that goes,” Milton continued. “It’s just very different over here.”

You don’t have to be a tinfoil-hat theorist to view Milton’s comments as a jab at the Patriots, and specifically the quarterback room.

Did Milton feel Brissett should have been a better leader? Did he think Maye, a rookie trying to learn himself, should of helped him out more? Or were his comments directed more at the coaching staff, which no longer remains in Foxboro, Mass.?

There’s something to them, for sure.
