Fan-favorite New York Giants rookie Cam Skattebo will miss the rest of his first NFL season due to a badly dislocated ankle that required surgery. However, he was busy the last few days and went viral on Monday for a moment that may have risked further damaging his surgically repaired joint.
Skattebo took New York by storm over his first few months in the city. While the former Arizona State star didn’t put up wild stats, the running back brought energy and excitement to the team in October that gave Giants fans hope that they might be a competitive team in 2025.
However, in the team’s Oct. 26 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, he suffered an ankle injury that left his foot turned in a gruesome direction. After further evaluation, it was discovered that he had a fibula fracture and deltoid ligament rupture. Unsurprisingly, the injury required season-ending surgery.
In the weeks since then, he has begun the lengthy rehab process. However, that hasn’t stopped the running back from being out and about in search of a good time. On Saturday night, he was Octagonside for UFC 322 inside Madison Square Garden.
However, WWE was also in the building on Monday for a new edition of Raw, and instead of sitting front row and just enjoying the action. The rookie actually got involved in the action.

Following a tag match featuring baddies Judgment Day, approached popular podcaster and WWE fan Andrew Schulz. Skattebo was seated next to Schulz and was the target of some verbal shots from Judgment Day member Dominik Mysterio. Eventually, Mysterio shoved Schulz nearly to the ground, and the rehabbing Giants star got up to defend him.
He then went nose-to-nose with Judgment Day member JD McDonough and ended up pushing him to the ground while still behind the ringside barricade. It then led to some wild shoving between the heel faction and Giants players with Skattebo at the event.
The moment was fun, especially for New York Giants fans in the building. However, it was a risky move by Skattebo that will likely lead to some conversations with his bosses this week. The NFL player could have let the adrenaline get the better of him, gotten overzealous, and pushed off on his already injured ankle, or the other one that has already had to carry more of the load in recent weeks.
Thankfully, nothing bad happened, but we have seen many star athletes end up getting serious injuries from silly mishaps away from the field or court. Skattebo has endeared himself for being gritty and tough, but also seeming like a bit of a lunkhead. This was another moment of the latter where the Giants got lucky; he didn’t end up worsening a serious injury.
