Sometimes, all it takes is one tweet to say it all. Dez Bryant goes all in with full emotions when he saw a video of Omar Cooper, the man widely believed to be behind NBA rookie Ace Bailey’s shaky draft drama. Cooper, shirt flashing and Jay-Z playing in the background, looked more like someone celebrating a win than someone guiding a top-5 pick into the league.

Bryant, never one to sugarcoat anything, dropped a loaded but straightforward reply on X:

“Somebody go save Ace Bailey man.. hell naw.” That’s all it took. Eight words, and the internet was all talking.

Who Is Really Pulling The Strings?

Ace Bailey came into the 2025 NBA Draft with sky-high expectations and a clear idea of where he wanted to land. But things didn’t go his way.

Despite reportedly turning down workout requests from top teams like the 76ers and Jazz, Utah snatched him up with the No. 5 pick. That move threw a wrench into the plans his camp had laid out.

Most of the plan, insiders say, came from Omar Cooper. He’s been close to Bailey for years. He helped him get to Rutgers. He’s also been through the draft process with his son, Sharife Cooper. But there’s a catch: Cooper isn’t certified by the NBPA. That means he can’t legally represent Bailey or negotiate with teams.

Officially, Bailey’s agents are Adie von Gontard and Daniel Green. However, several sources say Cooper still had a big hand in Bailey’s decisions. He pushed hard to keep Bailey away from teams like Utah and Philly. The intention? Land him somewhere like Brooklyn or Washington, where he could be the guy.

But Danny Ainge, the man in charge in Utah, didn’t flinch. He drafted Bailey anyway, ensuring that pre-draft games won’t scare him off. Bailey is now expected to report to the Jazz this weekend and begin his NBA journey, whether he likes it or not.

Bryant, who once skipped Cowboys workouts to force a contract extension, knows what leverage looks like. But he also knows when a player doesn’t have it. His reaction wasn’t just a jab; it felt like a warning. Bailey’s next steps matter. He’s got talent, no question. But now the main issue is the people guiding him, which can get messy quickly.
