The Philadelphia Eagles are officially Super Bowl champions for the second time in franchise history.

This is their second Super Bowl win since 2017, and have been strong competitors in the NFC during these nine years.

The Eagles were able to win due to their strengths on both sides of the ball, including their offense, which was mainly propelled by Jalen Hurts.

Saquon Barkley was neutralized in this game but Hurts mostly had his way with the Chiefs’ defense, both through the air and on the ground.

His top receiver was DeVonta Smith, who finished the game with four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.

While Smith put up a great performance in the final box score, he also made history.

According to a social media post by SportsCenter, Smith is the first drafted player from Alabama to catch a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl.

This might be a surprising statistic to some given Alabama’s brilliance over the years, but they haven’t necessarily been known for being a school that breeds elite wide receivers.

Smith is now in the record books for this Alabama-based stat, a first-time Super Bowl champion.

Analysts weren’t sure what to think about Smith coming out of college given his size, but he’s proved his doubters wrong throughout his career.

The former Heisman Trophy winner has done what he said he was going to do in the NFL and more and is a key piece of this Eagles offense, where he’ll likely remain for the foreseeable future.
