The Detroit Lions announced a few roster moves prior to their Week 14 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Most notably, they placed tight end Brock Wright on injured reserve.

Wright suffered a neck injury—later clarified by Dan Campbell as a trachea injury—in the team’s game against the New York Giants. Earlier this week, Campbell noted that it could be a long-term injury, but they were still doing tests and seeking extra opinions. It appears the news is bad, and at this point, it’s unlikely Wright plays again this season. He’ll be eligible to return in the team’s final regular-season game against the Chicago Bears.

That leaves Anthony Firkser, Ross Dwelley, and Hayden Rucci—added via waivers this week—to man the tight end position the rest of the year.

Taking Wright’s spot on the roster is Nick Whiteside, a corner who was part of the “Legion of Whom” when the Lions were shorthanded at cornerback earlier in the season. With Terrion Arnold placed on injured reserve earlier this week due to season-ending shoulder surgery, Whiteside gives them needed depth.

Additionally, the Lions announced that receiver Malik Cunningham has been elevated from the practice squad. He likely provides insurance in case Amon-Ra St. Brown—who remains a game-time decision due to an ankle injury—isn’t able to play on Thursday night.

Finally, the Lions downgraded left guard Kayode Awosika to OUT for the Cowboys game. That means the Lions will undergo even more shuffling on the offensive line. Expect either Trystan Colon or rookie Miles Frazier to join the starting lineup against a strong Cowboys defensive front.
