Pride of Detroit
Earlier this week, we published our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook, and asked Detroit Lions fans to project how many receiving yards Sam LaPorta would have during the 2026 season.
For this survey, we gathered the receiving totals from LaPorta’s previous three seasons, created five different ranges of totals, and asked fans to pick which one the All-Pro tight end would land in this season.
Let’s take a look at the results from our survey:
While the majority of fans picked the middle-of-the-road projection for LaPorta, it’s worth pointing out that if he indeed hits this range, he’ll still likely land amongst the top-10 tight ends in the NFL. Last season, only 11 tight ends cleared 651 yards, and only five tight ends exceeded 800 yards, which is where another third of the vote landed. For what it’s worth, FanDuel Sportsbook’s over/under receiving yards projection for LaPorta currently sits at 650.5 (-114)—a number 75% of the fan base expects him to clear.
Let’s take a look at the comment section of our original article and The FEED post to see fans’ explanations for their selections (slightly edited for clarity).
As a reminder, this survey was sponsored by the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook, who currently have the Lions listed as +1800 to win this year’s Super Bowl, +900 to win the NFC Championship, and +150 to win the NFC North as the current favorites.
Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Detroit Lions fans and fans across the country. If you want to receive these surveys by email weekly, you can sign up here.
