Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles Week 11 ‘SNF’ fan discussion

A fair majority of the NFL fans have a sympathetic heart for the Detroit Lions — a team that’s never appeared in a Super Bowl. In recent seasons, the franchise’s luck has changed thanks to the solution found in the equation made up of head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff (plus a generous amount of first-round selections). Campbell continues to impress as a head coach who also knows how to scout coordinator and assistant coaching talent.

The 6-3 Lions appear headed for another playoff run (even if they’re currently staring up at the Chicago Bears), and tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles could tell folks a lot about their chances in January and beyond. Of course that’s true of the 7-3 Eagles, however they don’t have anywhere close to the same resistance in the NFC East as Detroit must work around in the NFC North. Philadelphia’s closest divisional competition is a 3-5-1 Dallas Cowboys team that might surrender three touchdowns to a DIII college football team.

Here at Buffalo Rumblings, we always try to tie “out of market” matchups back to the team’s playoff implications. Tonight, the preferred move is for the Eagles to win if you’re banking on improving Buffalo’s Strength of Schedule (SOS) rating, as we revealed in the Bills Week 11 rooting interests guide.

But rounding back to sympathetic thoughts of the Lions: Who really wants to see Philly succeed yet again outside of their fan base? The move may be to cheer on an Eagles win, but it’s hard to feel anything other than pride in these Lions. In the end, if it comes down to SOS for Buffalo to make the playoffs, fans may be waving a white flag to SOS their team’s season.

The Kansas City Chiefs lost earlier this evening, dropping to 5-5 on the season. Can the other half of last season’s Super Bowl matchup be taken down a notch?

With that, here’s your open thread for Lions at Eagles and Sunday Night Football for Week 11. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
